Designing Habits That Beat the Three-Day Resolution — Systems, Not Willpower
Making a decision is easy; sustaining it is hard. But the three-day resolution (작심삼일) doesn't happen because your willpower is weak. It happens because your habit was never designed to last.
Four Principles That Make Habits Stick
1. Start Small
"Exercise one hour every day" collapses easily. Start with "put on your shoes and walk for 5 minutes." The smaller it is, the longer it lasts.
2. Attach It to an Existing Habit
A new habit sticks best when you bolt it onto something you already do. Like "after brushing my teeth → 10 squats."
3. Make It Visible
When your streak (continuous record) is visible, you don't want to break it. A "X days in a row" count is a powerful motivator.
4. Connect It to Meaning
When you know which dream this habit leads to, you can hold on when you waver. Connect your habit to your Vision.
What Happens When You Slip Is What Really Matters
Missing one day doesn't mean you've ruined everything. Keeping just one rule — "never miss twice in a row" — is enough to keep a habit alive.
The Vision Dream Habit Tracker
In Vision Dream, habits are connected to your dreams and Goals, so every daily check-in links back to "why am I doing this." When you watch your streak grow and your tree of success flourish, you keep going without relying on willpower.
Beating the three-day resolution isn't about stronger willpower — it's about a better system. If there's something you keep putting off because it scares you, try the Fear Buster too.
